A Big Update

Greetings!

Life has been fairly dramatic this year, so I believe a bit of an update is in order.

I dropped Facebook altogether, as well as my Medieval World Building group. Facebook, and social media, are much different from when I signed on there about fifteen years ago, and to be honest their usefulness has dwindled. Its level of vitriol, venom and negativity has soared, so much so that I quit it for a few weeks after the last election. I should have left then, but I didn’t. Now, Facebook has become so infested with AI that I can’t even be sure what’s real and what’s not.

So, my involvement on the web has increased, but it will be without Facebook. That’s okay.

I ended my exclusivity with Amazon a while back, especially with my art book, Aorlis: the Art of Scott Story 2019-2023. I haven’t posted it on other sales platforms yet, but that’s coming. There are various reasons for this change.

I made my debut as a game designer this year, publishing the Thrice-Forged RPG. This is a concise, fast-paced system that is great for onboarding new players, but expansive enough for experienced gamers. It’s been well-received so far, and many expansions are coming for it.

I began the Art of Scott Story, a website devoted to my graphic art. It is distinct from the site you are now on because this one is about my writing and blogging, and that one showcases my art. I long ago made peace with the fact that I am neither just a writer nor an artist, but a combination writer/artist/storyteller. The art site is updated weekly as I post new, finished drawings, pen-and-inks, line-and-wash, shaded pencil art, and paintings. Check it out.

I joined Bluesky, and that is where I’ll do my microblogging. Its early days for me there, but it’s much like Facebook without the strangling algorithm and advertising.

I imagine my biggest news this year is my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/scottstory. It’s been a great experiment for me, because I’ve been posting art process videos there weekly. At this point, there are nearly twenty episodes there, and I’ve been learning the video editing process as I go. If you like fantasy art, please look it over. It’s a labor of love.

There’s more to write about, but I don’t want to make this post any longer. Watch this space.
